Launched as a subsidiary of the Aveng Group in 2011, Aveng Water combines the Group's leading expertise in mine and waste water treatment, as well as in sea water desalination. We have extensive experience designing, constructing, operating and maintaining commercial-scale water reclamation and desalination plants.
In partnership with our mining clients, Aveng Water provides technical solutions to treat and manage mine water that, if not treated, would negatively impact surrounding environments. Our solutions, based on the proprietary and highly effective HiPRO process are customised for each mining application. These solutions are available as short-term mobile units or longer-term permanent plants.
Aveng Water's capability in implementing large-scale sea water desalination projects is demonstrated by our construction of Southern Africa's largest sea water desalination plant, the Erongo Sea Water Desalination Plant in Namibia.
Aveng Water is well positioned to support industrial and mining clients in search of new water sources needed for their operations. Our expertise in membrane-based industrial water plant design coupled with our depth of experience in water recycling and reuse together with capabilities to operate and maintain such plants, means that we are able to deliver reliable water supply for any scale of industrial projects.

For each product, effective water management is essential to minimising the discharge of waste water into municipal waste water systems and fresh water sources.
The availability of fresh water supplies is under great pressure with the demands of global population growth, significant industrial development and changing climatic conditions. As a result, it is critical that cost-effective ways of providing fresh water for human consumption and business use are developed. With this, sea water desalination is considered an increasingly viable water resource for industry and domestic consumption for coastal users.
Acid mine drainage (amd) water arising from coal, gold, uranium and platinum mines is a major threat to the environment. If treated correctly, this water becomes a valuable new water resource – potable water. The challenge is to provide cost-effective solutions to maximise the recovery of the water. Through advanced reverse osmosis treatment, Aveng Water provides permanent or short-term solutions to the mining industry and municipalities to transform heavily polluted water into a re-usable resource, at recovery rates in excess of 97%.
